Today's game was always going to be hard, away to a strong Bicester team pushing for promotion. We set off well moving the ball about and putting pressure on the Bicester's backs. It wasn't long before Thame struck hard, with Scottie delivering the first goal of the match. However, Bicester came back strong and manged to draw level. The game continued to be extremely fluid, with the ball moving around the pitch, with players being committed to tackles. Unfortunately an injury saw one of the Thame players leave the pitch. With the team slightly unsettled Bicester saw their chance and quickly put another two in the back of the net.
The second half saw a resurgent Thame team and Bicester starting to show cracks, it wasn't long before Dave Mordant struck home again. Bicester continued to fight hard and they had their chances but an amazing performance by Barney kept us in the game. Further chances came Thames way with Justin hitting the cross bar and an extremely dubious disallowed goal.
With a Bicester team pushing for promotion and their captain saying they put out their best team this, whilst disappointing, this was a highly credible performance for the Mens 3s; we continued to grow in strength and experience, a big thank you to Issac for his support to the team.
Another shout must go out to Noah Williams, Ewan Lewis, Hamish Winnicott and Noah Harris all of whom have joined this season. They played amazingly against an experienced and mature team, holding their own and contributing to outstanding game play.
Player of the match, mentioned by more than one person today, goes to Kieran Male; never stopped harassed the opposition picking the ball on multiple occasions and performing outstandingly in midfield.
