It was a double header for the Ladies 2's this weekend with our re-arranged match v Oxford Uni 3's this Sunday. Luckily it was a home match so the tired legs from yesterday didn't have to travel too far! We did have fresh legs though with some of our juniors which was very welcome. Conditions were ideal and we started the match well, settling into positions and getting the passes going. The Oxford Uni girls were fast and we weren't setting our press quick enough in the first half allowing them some breaks and forays into our D. None the less we managed to attack down the wings with great passes between Jane and Tamsin and Summer pivoting the ball nicely when needed from the middle. Tabs and Sophie got some great crosses in and we were unlucky not to score a couple of times. We even had a few attacking short corners that nearly came good. Eventually a well worked ball from Summer made it into the D for Jane to knock home, Harriet taking it as she made sure it definitely crossed the line, 1-0! The second half saw more great runs from Mogs, Tabs, Sophie and Tamsin, our press was sharper and we kept the pressure on the Uni girls with more of our passes linking up. It definitely felt like we had more possession and eventually a great drive into the D by Tabs found Mogs in exactly the right place on the far post and she knocked it in, 2-0 and Mogs first goal for the 2's! Oxford kept the pressure up and they had some tenacious players down their wings and in midfield who didn't give up trying to even up the score. Eventually they broke through and a great pass back from the base line allowed them to knock a goal home. Final score 2-1 to Thame, a great result! Queen of the Team; Mogs, that goal! Cone Head; Fluffy, something about dropping your stick, but great defending anyway!
