Thame Ladies had an easy drive to the home ground for the match against Aylesbury. Luckily, traffic was tame unlike those Aylesbury players!
With a good warmup under our belt, the team was buzzing to play.
Aylesbury had a solid press on one side of the pitch so after a half time talk, we utilised transferring the ball and keeping possession.
Martha showed insane ball skills and smashed it in to put Thame in front with a cheeky 1-0 score.
Starting the second half with a positive mindset, we stayed composed although our patience was tested.
Sharpie scored a beautiful goal that took flight creating a stronger lead of 2-0.
Ivy had a cheeky tap in after some great play to bring us to the final score of 3-0.
Towards the end we took things slow, Jane and Claire passing the ball between them, then round the back to maintain possession in the final minutes.
Highlights of the game include Summer falling over and landing on top of the Aylesbury player, Jane’s Green card and Sarah’s wonderful ongoing commentary from the back.
Despite an aggressive opposition and some unhelpful opposition spectators, the Thame ladies (and Dan) managed to keep calm and keep playing their game.
A well earned win that was especially rewarding due to the rough nature of the game, Thame would take 3-0 any day of the week. Another three points!
