L 1’s started their unexpectedly feisty home game on the back foot and soon found themselves 1-nil down quite quickly. After the initial goal Thame settled into a rhythm and were soaking up wave after wave of pressure from the Oxford attackers, Bekah made save after save and the defence line of Claire, Summer, Sarah and Goat made tackle after tackle, but after several short corners in a row Oxford managed to score to make it 2-0 Oxford.
Thame were not beaten and kept battling for the goal. They were rewarded with their patience when Sharpie, Steph and Martha made some quick passes from the halfway line leading to Sharpie running to the base line and slipping it back to Steph who flicked it into the net to make it 2-1. Shortly before half time Oxford scored again to make it 3-1.
After the restart Thame picked up the pressure and Oxford began to get rattled, some more so than others which lead to a green card being shown to Oxford, shortly followed by Sarah.
Thame put this behind them quickly when Sharpie and Steph linked together with some quick passes ending with Sharpie scoring to make it 3-2. Oxford came back hard with their press and managed to score a breakaway goal to make it 4-2. This was quickly followed by another run of short corners which Oxford finally scored on 5-2, this was quickly followed by a 6th goal to make it 6-2.
Another span of great defending from Thame unfortunately ended in Oxford being awarded a Pflick, Great save was made by Bekah to deny the goal. Thame still did not give in and kept putting the pressure on the Oxford defence, winning a short corner. A well worked ball out to Sarah and across the goal for Steph to deflect into the net to make the end score 6-3 to Oxford.
